Lionel Bringuier

Born in Nice in 1986, Lionel Bringuier attended the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris from the age of thirteen. Initially he studied cello and, from the year 2000, conducting. Bringuier completed his studies with the commendation “Mention Très Bien à l’unanimité” in 2004. He has conducted numerous top orchestras since then and worked for six years as Resident Conductor with the Los Angeles Philharmonic – a collaboration initiated by the ensemble’s Music Director at the time, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and continued by the current Music Director, Gustavo Dudamel. From 2009 to 2012, Bringuier was also Principal Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León. Lionel Bringuier has been Music Director of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich since the 2014/15 season. Bringuier maintains close links with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Bamberg Symphony. In November 2014, he debuted at the Philharmonia Orchestra London. He is a regular guest of the Munich Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
