Bogdan Makal studied solo singing in theacademies of music in Bydgoszcz and in Wrocław(diploma with distinction in the class of KazimierzMyrlak) on a scholarship from the Ministry of Cultureand Art.The artist has performed baritone and bass partsin over 100 oratorio works and has been invited tonumerous festivals in Poland and abroad, and workedwith a number of theatres and opera theatres.He has also actively recorded, especially for radio andtelevision in Poland, the Czech Republic, France, andthe US; CDs on which he has performed have beenawarded Grand Prix du Disque de l’Académie CharlesCros and Diapason d’Or prizes.Bogdan Makal is a professor of the Academy of Musicin Wrocław, dean of its Vocal Faculty, and head of theVocal Department at the Secondary School of Music.His students win accolades in Polish and internationalvocal competitions, and, having graduated, he hasbeen successful on operatic stages in Poland andabroad. Makal himself is also a lecturer and directorof the Winter Singing Course in Duszniki-Zdrój, anda member of the jury in national and international vocalcompetitions.His artistic and educational work has won Makala number of prizes and diplomas, including from theDirector of the Centre for Artistic Education, Rectorof the Academy of Music in Wrocław, and the PolishAssociation of Teachers of Singing (PSPS). He is alsoa recipient of the Medal of National Education and theDiploma of the Bishop of Wrocław.
