Music Director of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony.

Andrés Orozco-Estrada has been Music Director of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony (hr-Sinfonieorchester) since 2014. In the Spring of 2016 he extended his contract by another three years to a total of seven years. Still in 2014 he took over as Music Director of the Houston Symphony. In 2015 he was elected Principal Guest Conductor by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Colombian-born and Vienna-trained, Andrés Orozco-Estrada is one of the most sought after conductors of his generation. He regularly works with the world’s most renowned orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra as well as the Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Philadelphia orchestras. In 2014 he conducted at the Glyndebourne Festival for the first time, and in 2015 at the Salzburg Festival.

Andrés Orozco-Estrada first came to international attention in 2004 when he stepped in at short notice to conduct a concert of the Tonkünstler Orchestra at the Vienna Musikverein. In 2009, Orozco-Estrada was appointed Principal Conductor of the Tonkünstler Orchestra. This very successful collaboration draws to a close with the 2014/15 season. From 2009 to 2013 Orozco-Estrada was also Principal Conductor of the Basque National Orchestra.

Born in 1977 in Medellín (Colombia), Andrés Orozco-Estrada began his musical studies on the violin and had his first conducting lessons at the age of 15. In 1997 he moved to Vienna, where he joined the conducting class of Uroš Lajovic, a pupil of the legendary Hans Swarowsky, at the renowned Vienna Music Academy.
