His interpretations of works by Polish composers earned him the Third Prize at the International Competition of Polish Music in Rzesz\u00f3w in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The recital of this talented pianist will feature piano miniatures by Polish composers, spanning from Maria Szymanowska, who composed in the early decades of the 19th century, through the prematurely deceased and highly gifted Antoni Stolpe and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, to the 20th-century neoclassicist Aleksander Tansman.<\/p>\n<p>The central focus of the evening will be works by Chopin (Scherzo in B minor, Op. 31) and five improvisations, Op. 13, by Juliusz Zar\u0119bski, titled <em>Les Roses et les \u00c9pines<\/em> (Roses and Thorns). This innovative cycle, published in 1883 in Mainz, holds a unique place in the piano literature, not only in Poland. Its sonic sensuality and range of moods transcend its time of creation, foreshadowing the impressionistic color of music. Zar\u0119bski was considered one of the most talented students of Franz Liszt. He dedicated his Piano Quintet in G minor\u2014the most famous work from his limited compositional output\u2014to his teacher.
