Represented by the Ludwig van Beethoven Association, Szymon Nehring won the first prize at the 15th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, which brought together more than 30 pianists from all over the world. Other finalists of the Competition are: Jaehong Park (South Korea), Sara Daneshpour (USA), Xiaoyu Liu (Israel), Yevgeny Yontov (Israel), Daniel Petrica Ciobanu (Romania).
Szymon also won audience awards (Yehuda i Dolinie Izrael), Junior Jury Prize, Prize of the best performance of Chopin piece and Advance Studies Prize.
Second prize won Daniel Petrica Ciobanu and third price – Sara Daneshpour.
Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv is one of the most prestigious competitions for young pianists (18-32 years). During the finale, young pianists present their talents during chamber concerts as well as during concerts with an orchestra. Emanuel Ax, Aleksander Gawryluk or Danilo Trifonov are among laureates of previous competitions.
This year’s competition was held from April 25 to May 11, 2017. The jury under the supervision of prof. Arie Vardiego included Hui-Qiao Bao, Josef Bardanashvili, Michel Béroff, Peter Donohoe, Janina Fialkowska, Ian Hobson, Menahem Pressler, Eliso Virsaladze, Ramzi Yassa and Dina Yoffe. “Young jury” composed of finalists of the 1st International Artur Rubinstein Youth Piano Competition in Beijing 2016 also deliberated during the competition.
