In 1945, the orchestra was placed under the directorship of Stefan Racho\u0144, and his successors have included W\u0142odzimierz Kamirski, Jan Pruszak, Mieczys\u0142aw Nowakowski, Tadeusz Struga\u0142a (during his tenure the ensemble was given its present name and moved to its new seat \u2013 the Witold Lutos\u0142awski Polish Radio Concert Studio), Wojciech Rajski, and \u0141ukasz Borowicz. <strong>Since February 2015, the position of Artistic Director has been held by Micha\u0142 Klauza.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Since the Orchestra made its debut at the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in 2008 it has performed a series of concert versions of less-known operas, such as <\/strong>Cherubini\u2019s <em>Lodo\u00efska (2008<\/em>), Spohr\u2019s <em>Berggeist<\/em> (2009), Weber\u2019s <em>Euryanthe<\/em> (2010), Donizetti\u2019s <em>Maria Padilla<\/em> (2011), Italo Montemezzi\u2019s <em>L\u2019amore dei tre re<\/em> (2012), the original version of Verdi\u2019s <em>Simon Boccanegra <\/em>(2013), and Gluck\u2019s <em>Iphigenia<\/em> in <em>Tauris<\/em> (2014). These performances have been released on CDs.<\/p>\n<p>The ensemble\u2019s recordings of Panufnik\u2019s works, conducted by \u0141ukasz Borowicz and available in a 4 CD collection on the <em>cpo<\/em> label was the recipient of the International Classical Music Award for 2015. Its albums featuring outstanding Polish singers \u2013 Piotr Becza\u0142a (Orfeo), Mariusz Kwiecie\u0144 (harmonia mundi), and Artur Ruci\u0144ski (Polskie Radio) \u2013 are available on the market.<\/p>\n<p>Under its new director, the Polish Radio Orchestra pursues the same practice as before, performing and recording forgotten works, especially those by Polish composers. Its Sunday concerts at the Witold Lutos\u0142awski Studio have been conducted by Poland\u2019s most outstanding composers, including Jerzy Maksymiuk, Antoni Wit, Marek Pijarowski, and Jos\u00e9 Maria Flor\u00eancio.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra has a history dating back to the pre-war years.
