Lithuanian-born tenor Edgaras Montvidas was educated in Vilnius.<\/p>\n<p>His plans this season and beyond include Don Ottavio\/<em>Don Giovanni <\/em>and Edgardo\/<em>Lucia di Lammermoor <\/em>for Semperoper Dresden, Flamand\/<em>Capriccio<\/em> for La Monnaie, Brussels, Alfred\/<em>Die\u00a0Fledermaus<\/em> for Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich; the title role in <em>Werther <\/em>for the Op\u00e9ra national de Lorraine, Nancy; and his debut at the Op\u00e9ra Comique singing Conrad in Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019s <em>Le timbre d\u2019argent.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In concert, he will sing Verdi\u2019s <em>Requiem <\/em>with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra; Szymanowski\u2019s <em>King<\/em> <em>Roger <\/em>with Pappano for the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome and Gounod\u2019s <em>Le Tribut de Zamora <\/em>with the Munich Radio Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>Montvidas\u2019s recent opera appearances include Lensky\/<em>Eugene Onegin<\/em> and Belmonte for Bayerische Staatsoper and Glyndebourne Festival Opera; Belmonte for the Hamburg Opera and Dutch National Opera, with whom he has also sung Arbace\/<em>Idomeneo<\/em> and Fisherman in Stravinsky\u2019s <em>Le Rossignol<\/em>; Nemorino for the English National Opera and Scottish Opera; Ruggero\/<em>La Rondine<\/em> and Alfredo for the Leipzig Opera; Prunier\/<em>La<\/em> <em>Rondine <\/em>for the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Rinuccio\/<em>Gianni Schicchi<\/em> for Cincinnati Opera; <em>Les Contes d\u2019Hoffmann<\/em> in a new production by Barrie Kosky for Komische Oper Berlin, and Don Ottavio\/<em>Don Giovanni<\/em> for Santa Fe Opera.<\/p>\n<p>In concert he has sung Fisherman\/<em>Le Rossignol <\/em>with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Pierre Boulez and Szymanowski\u2019s <em>King<\/em> <em>Roger<\/em>, and Fisherman and Ravel\u2019s <em>L\u2019Enfant et les sortil\u00e8ges <\/em>with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Charles Dutoit.<\/p>\n<p>Montvidas was awarded the Lithuanian Order of Merit medal by President Dalia Grybauskaite as well as the \u201cCarry Your Light and Believe\u201d Badge of Honour by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, and in 2009 was awarded the \u201cGold Cross of the Stage\u201d Theatre Award in Lithuania for his performances as Werther.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edgaras Montvidas.
