With Yip Wing-sie as Music Director, the orchestra has brought music closer to the community and achieved significant recognition locally and internationally for its passionate performances and innovative programming.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1999, Hong Kong Sinfonietta has collaborated with an illustrious array of international musicians and groups, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Pl\u00e1cido Domingo, Augustin Dumay, Fou Ts\u2019ong, Christopher Hogwood, Luciano Pavarotti and Krzysztof Penderecki. The orchestra performs year-round with over 100 performances a season and has been the Venue Partner of the Hong Kong City Hall since 2009. As an avid believer in keeping music alive and contemporary, Hong Kong Sinfonietta commissions and performs new works every year and ventures into crossover concerts. The orchestra\u2019s discography includes CDs of works by Chinese composers on Hugo and three double-CD albums entitled <em>This is Classical Music <\/em>on Decca, which have been awarded Platinum and Gold Records.<\/p>\n<p>On tour, Hong Kong Sinfonietta has been invited to perform in North America \u2013 in Canada and New York City; South America \u2013 in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay; Europe \u2013 at the prestigious <em>Festival International de Piano La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron<\/em>, Saint-Riquier Festival, <em>Les Fl\u00e2neries Musicales d\u2019\u00c9t\u00e9 de Reims<\/em> and <em>Festival Les Nuits Romantiques<\/em> in France, in Switzerland at Tonhalle Z\u00fcrich, Geneva Victoria Hall and Fribourg, <em>Festival Pianistico Internazionale Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli<\/em> and <em>Settimane Musicali al Teatro Olimpico<\/em> in Italy, Marv\u00e3o International Music Festival in Portugal, Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall in Poland and in Lithuania; China \u2013 at the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival and China Shanghai International Arts Festival (Expo 2010 Shanghai), in Beijing at the National Centre for the Performing Arts; Japan \u2013 at <em>La Folle Journ\u00e9e<\/em> in Tokyo and Niigata, Nagano and Kanazawa; Korea \u2013 at the Tongyeong International Music Festival; and Singapore \u2013 at the Esplanade.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hong Kong Sinfonietta is one of Hong Kong\u2019s flagship orchestras.
