Studied in the class of Bogus\u0142aw Madey at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where he was conferred a doctorate in conducting under the tutelage of Antoni Wit. In 2005\u201306 he was assistant to Kazimierz Kord at the Teatr Wielki \u2013 Polish National Opera in Warsaw. Between 2007 and 2015 he was the artistic director of the Polish Radio Orchestra, and he has been the First Guest Conductor of the Pozna\u0144 Philharmonic Orchestra since 2006.<\/p>\n<p>As well as the <em>Polityka<\/em> weekly \u201cPassport\u201d award (2008), he has also received the Coryph\u00e9e of Polish Music award (2011), the Norwid Award (2013) and Tansman Prize for Outstanding Musical Personality (2014).<\/p>\n<p>The orchestras he has conducted include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music Group, Akademie f\u00fcr Alte Musik Berlin, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, SWR Sinfonieorchester, Wiener Volksoper, Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Nancy, Philharmonie Zuidnederland, Prague Symphony Orchestra, and the majority of Polish symphony orchestras.<\/p>\n<p>Borowicz has conducted a diverse range of pieces at the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter festivals: Cherubini\u2019s <em>Lodo\u00efska<\/em>, Spohr\u2019s <em>Berggeist<\/em>, Weber\u2019s <em>Euryanthe<\/em>, Donizetti\u2019s <em>Maria Padilla<\/em>, Italo Montemezzi\u2019s <em>L\u2019amore dei tre re<\/em>, Verdi\u2019s <em>Simon Boccanegra<\/em>, Gluck\u2019s <em>Iphig\u00e9nie en Tauride<\/em>, Britten\u2019s <em>The Turn of the Screw<\/em>, Williams\u2019<em> At the Boar&#8217;s Head <\/em>and Holst\u2019s <em>Riders to the Sea<\/em><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>His recordings now number over 65, with his complete symphonic works of Andrzej Panufnik recorded on CPO label having won the Special Achievement Award ICMA 2015. The recording of Williams\u2019<em> At the Boar&#8217;s Head <\/em>and Holst\u2019s <em>Riders to the Sea <\/em>produced during the previous Beethoven Festival was nominated for a 2017 ICMA Award.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u0141ukasz Borowicz.
