He has appeared on stage with the Boston Symphony (Bernard Haitink), Concentus Musicus (Nikolaus Harnoncourt), Leipzig Gewandhaus (Herbert Blomstedt, Riccardo Chailly, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner), the National Symphony in Washington DC (Ivan Fischer), and the Zurich Opera Orchestra (\u00c1d\u00e1m Fischer). Recently, under the baton of Ingo Metzmacher, he sang in Schubert\u2019s <em>Lazarus<\/em> at the Salzburg Festival, as well as in Schoenberg\u2019s <em>Jakobsleiter<\/em> with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester at the Berlin Philharmonic.<\/p>\n<p>Projects in the 2016\/17 season include the world premiere of J\u00f6rg Widmann\u2019s <em>Arche<\/em> in Hamburg\u2019s Elbphilharmonie (Kent Nagano), Beethoven\u2019s <em>Ninth Symphony<\/em> with the D\u00fcsseldorf Symphony Orchestra (Ad\u00e1m Fischer), Schumann\u2019s <em>Faustszenen<\/em> with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (Michael Sch\u00f8nwandt), Mahler\u2019s <em>Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen<\/em> with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (Giordano Bellincampi) and Sofia Gubaidulina\u2019s world premiere <em>\u00dcber Liebe und Hass<\/em> with the Dresden Staatskapelle.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas E. Bauer also enjoys considerable success in the Lied genre: he performs frequently with consummate pianist Jos van Immerseel. In addition, he collaborates on a regular basis with pianist and composer Kit Armstrong, with whom he has given a series of recitals featuring Armstrong\u2019s Bach transcriptions (for instance, at the Berlin Konzerthaus and the Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich).<\/p>\n<p>Bauer\u2019s recent performances on the opera stage, in Zimmermann\u2019s <em>Die Soldaten<\/em> (Alvis Hermanis\/Ingo Metzmacher) and in Strauss\u2019 <em>Der Rosenkavalier<\/em> (Harry Kupfer\/Zubin Mehta) at La Scala in Milan were warmly received. He has sung in several world premieres of operas, and was awarded the prestigious Schneider-Schott Music Prize.
