Orchestra of Poznań Philharmonic

The Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, one of themost famous and recognised Polish symphonyensembles, performs at major music venues inPoland and abroad. Its chief conductor is MarekPijarowski, and its first guest conductor is ŁukaszBorowicz.The Orchestra has toured almost all Europeancountries, and performed at several leadinginternational music festivals, including theRomaeuropa-Villa Medici, Kissinger Sommer,Ankara Sanat Festivali, Festwochen inHerrenhausen, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, ChorinerMusiksommer and Ludwig van Beethoven EasterFestival, International Music Festival Janáčkův Máj,and the Smetanova Litomyšl International OperaFestival.The ensemble accompanied participants of thefirst post-war edition of the Chopin Competitionin Warsaw, and since 1952 it has regularlyplayed with the finalists of International HenrykWieniawski Violin Competitions in Poznań.The Orchestra has performed with such illustriousconductors as Andrzej Boreyko, Paul McCreesh,Christopher Hogwood, Jacek Kaspszyk, ZdeněkMácal and Sir Neville Marriner, and withoutstanding soloists: Martha Argerich, PiotrBeczała, Rafał Blechacz, Ida Haendel, KonstantyAndrzej Kulka, Aleksandra Kurzak, Sergei Leiferkus,Witold Małcużyński, Sabine Meyer, David and IgorOistrakh, Ewa Podleś, Maurizio Pollini, SviatoslavRichter, Mstislav Rostropovich, Artur Rubinstein,Gil Shaham, Wanda Wiłkomirska, Pretty Yende,Narciso Yepes, Christian Zacharias, KrystianZimerman, and Nikolai Znaider.The Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra has madenumerous recordings, including the worldpremiere recording of Feliks Nowowiejski’s QuoVadis (on cpo label), awarded the InternationalClassical Music Award 2018 in Choral (vocal orvocal-instrumental music) category.
