Wojciech Pszoniak

Distinguished Polish theatrical and film actor Wojciech Pszoniak was born in Lviv – where he spent the first two years of his life – and grew up in Gliwice. In his youth, he played violin and clarinet; at music high school in Bytom, he studied oboe performance. In 1968, he graduated from the State Drama School in Kraków.

The artist has appeared on the stages of the Stary Theatre in Kraków and the National and Powszechny theatres in Warsaw. In the 1970s, he performed at the Pod Egidą cabaret. Since the end of the 1970s, he has been playing in French theatres; in the 1980s, he emigrated to Paris. Since the 1990s, he has been playing at theatres both in Poland and elsewhere in Europe. He lectures at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw.

Wojciech Pszoniak has played in many Polish and foreign films, among others Andrzej Wajda’s Pilate and Others, The Wedding, The Promised Land, Danton and Korczak, Edward Żebrowski’s Hospital of the Transfiguration and Jerzy Kawalerowicz’s Austeria, Pierre Boutron’s Les années sandwiches, Étienne Périer’s Rouge Venise, Jacques Fansten’s Les lendemains qui chantent and many others.
