The Storioni Trio, founded in 1995 in the Netherlands, perform works for piano trio, ranging from the classical to the contemporary, from Haydn to Henze. The trio are leading experts in the triple concerto repertoire (Beethoven, Casella, Juon, Martinů, Moór, Vorísek). They commissioned and premiered triple concertos by Kevin Volans, Peter-Jan Wagemans, Nico Muhly and Willem Jeths.
The Storioni Trio recently performed Beethoven’s complete piano trios in Switzerland and the Netherlands, on period and modern instruments. The recording of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto on period instruments with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra (Jan Willem de Vriend) received international critical acclaim.
The Storioni Trio are Artistic Directors of the annual, ten-day festival in the Netherlands. The 10th edition, in January 2017, again saw top international musicians and upcoming talented musicians joining the trio. In addition, the Storioni Festival presents at least one yearly commission for a new triple concerto or work for piano trio.
The Storioni Trio have been invited to Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall and to festivals such as Kuhmo, Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival, Osnabrück Kammermusiktage and the Trio Festival in the Philharmonie Moscow. Several tours have led the trio to India, the Middle East, Australia, Taiwan, Japan and the United States. In April 2017 the Storioni Trio will make their debut with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under Jaap van Zweden.
Wouter Vossen plays a Laurentius Storioni violin (Cremona 1794), and Marc Vossen a Giovanni Grancino cello (Milan 1700).
