Leopoldo Lo Sciuto, tenor, began his musical education studying at the Department of Art, Music and Theatre in Bologna, graduating in History of 19th-century Italian Opera. At the same time he began studying opera singing with Maestro Vittorio Terranova and Franco Corelli.
He debuted in 1998 at the Politeama Theatre in Palermo as lead singer in the opera Pierre Gringoire by Antonio Scontrino. Subsequently he played Alfredo in La traviata at the State Theatre in Prague and Captain Macheath in The Beggar’s Opera by Britten at the Coccia Theatre in Novara. He was Canio (Pagliacci) at the Comunale Theatre in Bologna and Flavio (Norma) at the Sferisterio in Macerata.
In November 2000 he sang at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples in Verdi’s I due Foscari, which was recorded for DVD release. He also sang the same opera at the Rome Opera House and at the Opéra de Monte Carlo, as well as, in January 2001, in Budapest at the Ferenc Liszt Academy, opening the Verdi celebrations.
Subsequently he debuted the leading roles in Carmen, Norma, Ballo in maschera, Don Carlos, Nabucco, Cavalleria rusticana, Aida, Manon Lescaut, and Il trovatore.
He is currently perfecting his technique with tenor Nicola Martinucci in Milan.
