Elżbieta Penderecka (1947-2025)

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Elżbieta Penderecka, a patron of culture who promoted music in Poland and around the world and supported the careers of young artists, passed away suddenly today. She initiated and organized numerous important artistic events and festivals, the most renowned of which is the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival. Her cultural work gained wide recognition at home and abroad, as evidenced by the numerous awards she received. For over 50 years, she stood by Krzysztof Penderecki, providing the composer with a home and conditions for creative work, and accompanying him on numerous journeys, during which she always committed herself to disseminating Polish culture.
