We are delighted to announce that Krzysztof Książek and Agnieszka Zahaczewska-Książek, as Książek Piano Duo, have been awarded the second prize at the 12th International Chamber Music Competition Franz Schubert und die Musik der Moderne in Graz, in the piano duo category. This prestigious competition, with a rich and long tradition, was held for the first time in this category.
The Książek Piano Duo’s program focused on the works of Schubert as well as contemporary music. The artists presented pieces such as Schubert’s Fantasy in F minor and Divertissement aux motifs originaux français, as well as Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Lowell Liebermann’s Sonata for Two Pianos. The program also featured a Polish touch with Suite for Two Pianos by Władysława Markiewiczówna.
The jury, chaired by Gil Garburg and Sivan Silver, and including members such as Arie Vardi, Rico Gulda, Shani Diluka, Lena-Lisa Wùstendörfer, and Götz Schumacher, expressed admiration for the artistic craftsmanship of Książek Piano Duo, which led to the awarding of the prize.
Tomorrow (February 15, 2025), the artists will perform during the laureates’ concert, playing a part of Liebermann’s Sonata at the Musikverein Graz.
We warmly congratulate them on their victory and wish them continued success!
