Patrycja Piekutowska

Patrycja Piekutowska, eminent violinist, is this year celebrating the 20th year of her artistic career. She has given over 800 concerts in 36 countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Africa, performing in such prestigious venues as Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Sala São Paulo and Teatro Guaíra in Brazil, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Tianjin Grand Theatre, as well as philharmonic halls in Santiago de Chile, Montevideo, Beijing, Hamburg, Belgrade, and many others. She holds a PhD in musical arts.

Recordings form an important part of the artist’s activities. She has recorded twelve CDs, of which eight are dedicated to 20th-century Polish music. Her recording of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Capriccio under the baton of the composer has been honoured with the MIDEM Classical Award as well as prizes in Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg and Italy. In 2014, she celebrated her 15 years on the music market by releasing her tenth album, with sonatas by Brahms and Franck.

In the past twelve years, Piekutowska has performed a recital of Krzysztof Penderecki’s complete works for violin and piano almost 80 times. Her repertoire also includes the solo violin recital “From Bach to Penderecki”, mainly promoting Polish contemporary music.

In 2016 she released two new albums – another recording of Capriccio under the composer’s baton with Sinfonia Iuventus (as part of the “Penderecki Special Edition” series), and the world premiere of Musica in forma di rosa, dedicated to her by Dariusz Przybylski, recorded with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.

In 2014 Patrycja Piekutowska received the “Leader of the Future” diploma from the Teraz Polska Foundation as well as the Gloria Artis medal from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

Piekutowska plays a Paolo Castello violin from 1766.
