Yaroslav Petryanik

Born in Rostov-on-Don,in 2013 he graduated from the St Petersburg StateRimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. In 2014 he won4th Prize at the “Opera Without Borders”Competition for Young Opera Singers,and 1st prizes in both the Nadezhda ObukhovaRussian National Competition for Young Vocalistsand the Maxim Mikhailov Competition for YoungOpera Singers. In 2012 he won 2nd Prizeat the International Rachmaninoff MusicCompetition in St Petersburg.Since 2013, he has been a soloist of the MariinskyAcademy of Young Opera Singers. On the stageof the Mariinsky Theatre, his roles have includedPapageno/Die Zauberflöte, Figaro/Il barbieredi Siviglia, Giorgio Germont/La Traviata, SerAmantio di Nicolao/Gianni Schicchi, and Harlequin/Ariadne auf Naxos, among many others.Together with singers of the Academy he hasappeared in a series of concert performancesof Soviet operas and operettas including AntonioSpadavecchia’s The Gadfly (Martini), DmitryShostakovich’s Moscow, Cheryomushki (BorisKaretsky), Tikhon Khrennikov’s Into the Storm(Listrat), Vissarion Shebalin’s The Taming of theShrew (Petruchio), and Dmitry Kabalevsky’s ColasBreugnon (title role).In 2015, he sang the title role of Rubinstein’sDemon at the Vladikavkaz Opera and BalletTheatre. In the 2016/17 season, Yaroslav Petryanikhas appeared as Prince Nikita in David Pountney’sproduction of Tchaikovsky’s The Enchantressat the Teatro di San Carlo.
