Teresa Majka-Pacanek


A graduate of Arkadiusz Basztoń’s Class of Conducting at the Faculty of Music Education of the Academy of Music in Kraków. In 1985, she was engaged as a chorister by the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Kraków, where she held the post of assistant choirmaster in 1991–2009. Since 2009, she has directed the mixed choir of the Kraków Philharmonic.

In 1989–93, Majka-Pacanek was the director and conductor of the Kraków Philharmonic Chamber Choir; together they took part in numerous concerts and festivals in Poland and abroad, including the Futures Musiques Festival in Paris, and released 3 CDs. Since 1983, she has led the men’s choir of the Hasło Craftsmen’s Singing Society.

The artist works with many distinguished conductors and musicians from Poland and abroad, and has performed concerts in Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Ukraine, Romania, Sweden, Turkey and Italy/the Vatican, where in 2014 she conducted during the Canonisation Mass of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II. To celebrate Henryk Mikołaj Górecki’s 70th birthday, she prepared a special concert with the participation of the composer himself. She values her cooperation with the distinguished choirmasters Jan Łukaszewski and Gary Graden.
