Rafał Bartmiński

Leading Polish tenor, winnerof 2nd Prize and 11 special prizes at the 6th StanisławMoniuszko International Vocal Competition in 2007.He can be admired in over 30 leading opera roles,including Stefan/The Haunted Manor and Jontek/Halka in the operas of Stanisław Moniuszko, Pinkerton/Madama Butterfly, Rodolfo/La Bohème, Duke/Rigoletto, Alfred/La Traviata, Shepherd/King Rogerof Karol Szymanowski, and Walter/The Passenger byMieczysław Weinberg. He has cooperated with theatresincluding the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera,the Bolshoi in Moscow, Teatro Real in Madrid, OpéraBastille in Paris, Opernhaus in Wuppertal, and theWexford Festival Opera.His extensive oratorio repertoire covers works fromHandel, Bach, Mozart, Rossini, Moniuszko, Verdi,and Dvořák to Szymanowski, Weinberg, Kilar, andPenderecki. He has performed with the WarsawPhilharmonic, Polish National Radio SymphonyOrchestra, Sinfonieorchester des Bayerischen Rudfunksin Munich, Orqesta Sinfónica de RTVE in Madrid, andthe Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv.He has worked with consummate conductors, forinstance Mariss Jansons (Szymanowski’s Symphony No.3 “Song of the Night”), Marc Minkowski (Moniuszko’sHalka), Teodor Currentzis (Berg’s Wozzeck), TomasHanus (Janáček’s Káťa Kabanová), Gabriel Chmura(Boris Godunov), Krzysztof Penderecki (Credo), AntoniWit (Weinberg’s Symphony No. 8 “Polish Flowers”) aswell as with recognised directors: Dmitri Tcherniakov,Michael Gieleta, David Alden, Mariusz Treliński, andJakob Peters-Messer. He has also performed as a stageactor in the Polish TV Theatre (Sesja castingowa/Casting Session directed by Krzysztof Zanussi) andin Maria Callas.
