One of Poland’s most highly regarded choirs. Winner of L’Orphée d’Or 2015 of the Académie du Disque Lyrique in Paris and nominee for a Fryderyk 2015 award as well as recipient of a Gold Album.
The ensemble was established in 2005 on the initiative of Bartosz Michałowski – assistant to Professor Stefan Stuligrosz and second conductor of the “Poznań Nightingales” Boys’ and Men’s Choir of the Poznań Philharmonic.
The conducting experience gained during concerts with this award-winning choir led the artist to create an ensemble that was soon in great demand among serious music institutions and festival organisers.
The Poznan Chamber Choir is the winner of prestigious choral competitions and numerous special awards: for best vocal technique of an ensemble, for best performance of contemporary music, and for best conductor, amongst others. Its spectacular success at the prestigious Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival paved the way to regular performances at top festivals.
It was the first ensemble in Poland to perform with the legendary Concerto Köln Orchestra and the Irish Baroque Orchestra; it has also given many concerts with the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Polish Radio Orchestra, the Lower Silesia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Czech Virtuosi. It has been led by eminent conductors, including Paul McCreesh, Marek Pijarowski, Łukasz Borowicz, Paweł Przytocki, Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, and Monika Wolińska.
The choir’s repertoire includes a cappella pieces from all musical periods. It also regularly performs vocal-instrumental works, and each year performs premieres, for example during the announcement of the results of the Polish National Composing Competition Opus 966, organised in Poznań. The Poznan Chamber Choir has recorded ten albums.
