Lawrence Foster

The American conductor Lawrence Foster is the Music Director of l’Opérade Marseille, a position he has held since 2013.In December 2017 he was appointed ArtisticDirector and Principal Conductor of the PolishNational Radio Symphony Orchestra, beginningin September 2019.Previously, he has been the music directorof Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, OrchestrePhilharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the JerusalemSymphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphonyand the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne,among others.The Gulbenkian Orchestra, whose music directorLawrence Foster has been for ten years, appointedhim Conductor Laureate; he has toured thisorchestra across the world, partnering with leadingsoloists such as Lang Lang.One of the most sought-after conductors of ourtime, Foster has been invited as guest conductorby many of the world’s leading orchestras,including the Orchestre Philharmoniquede Radio France, NDR RadiophilharmonieHannover, Konzerthausorchester Berlin,Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini of Parma, HungarianNational Philharmonic, Copenhagen PhilharmonicOrchestra, Montreal Symphony Orchestra,and Hong Kong Philharmonic, and has frequentlyappeared at major festivals including the Lucerneand Grafenegg Festivals.In addition, Lawrence Foster is an accomplishedopera conductor and has appeared with majoropera companies throughout the world.
