Markus Eiche

Markus Eiche studied in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe.

From 2001 to 2007 Markus Eiche was a member of the National Theatre Mannheim and from 2007 – 2011 of the Vienna State Opera.  Since 2011 Markus Eiche has “residential contracts” with the Vienna State Opera and the Bavarian State Opera, Munich. Here he sings the important roles of his repertoire: Conte Almaviva, Marcello, Jeletzki, Belcore, Albert, Lescaut, Fritz and Frank, Olivier, Onegin, Besenbinder, Harlekin  and Musiklehrer, Sharpless, Kurwenal, Faninal, Gunther and Donner

 

Markus Eiche has been invited to the Salzburg Festival, the Teatro alla Scala Milano, the Biennale, Munich, the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, the Semperoper Dresde, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, the Finnish National Opera, Helsinki, the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and the Bayreuth Festival. At the Bayreuth Festival 2014 he sang Wolfram in TANNHÄUSER (with DVD Produktion) and Donner in RHEINGOLD.

 

In 2014/15 Markus he sang Lescaut in Puccini´s MANON LESCAUT at the Bavarian State Opera with Jonas Kaufmann and the role of Golaud in PELLÉAS ET MÉLISANDE.

In 2015/16 he sings in Vienna Albert in WERTHER and Guglielmo in COSI FAN TUTTE and in Munich Gunter in GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, Marcello in LA BOHEME, Musiklehrer in ARIADNE and Conte in NOZZE DI FIGARO.

 

 

Markus Eiche versatility is shown in his broad concert repertoire which includes a big variety of stiles and epochs. He enjoys a very close collaboration with Helmuth Rilling. Invitations to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Les Talens Lyrique, Paris, to Valencia, to the Munich Bach–Choir, etc. Markus Eiche has recorded a large variety of concert and operatic repertoire. Since 2012 he is professor at the Zurich University of the Arts.
