Anna Lubańska

Anna Lubańska, mezzo-soprano, graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Warsaw, where she studied in the class of Krystyna Szostek-Radkowa. She won First Prize and three honorary mentions at the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition. In the last year of her studies she started performing on the Warsaw Opera stage, with which she has been associated until today.

Her versatile talent, temperament and acting skills as well as diverse repertoire make her one of the most all-round contemporary Polish singers, who can turn her hand to tragic as well as lighter roles with equal success. The most important parts in her repertoire, which she has sung at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, include Princess Eboli/Don Carlos, Amneris/Aida, Fenena/Nabucco, as well as Hérodiade/Salome, Jadwiga/The Haunted Manor, Mother Ubu/Ubu Rex, and Olga/Eugene Onegin. She is an acclaimed interpreter of songs. Her song repertoire includes numerous pieces in German, French, Polish, Italian, Spanish, Czech, Russian, Yiddish, and English.

Lubańska has collaborated with many excellent soloists and conductors, including Jerzy Maksymiuk, Kazimierz Kord, Jacek Kasprzyk, Marc Minkowski, Jan Krenz, Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Plácido Domingo, Edita Gruberová, and Valery Gergiev.

She has made several recordings, including a complete studio recording of Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor on the EMI label, and Penderecki’s Ubu Rex, both with the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, under the baton of Jacek Kaspszyk.
