Andrzej Kosendiak

Director of the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music (NFM) in Wrocław,artist, conductor, teacher, one of the most activemusicians and committed champions of musical lifein Poland.A graduate of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting,and Theory of Music of the Academy of Musicin Wrocław, a higher doctorate was conferredon him in 2013.He has performed in many European countries and inthe US (collaborating with University of North Carolinaat Chapel Hill) and at the most prestigious festivals andrenowned concert halls of Poland. He has recordedpreviously unknown works from the Wrocław UniversityLibrary: Musica da Chiesa (DUX), and from StrasbourgLibrary: F.X. Richter’s Messa Pastorale, Sinfonia in D,and Magnificat (Cypres), as well as A.M. Bononcini’sStabat Mater (DUX). In 2012 and 2014 AndrzejaKosendiak conducted works of Grzegorz GerwazyGorczycki for CD Accord: the first CD won the WrocławMusic Prize, and both were nominated for the FryderykAward. The artist’s latest recordings are The SalzburgMarian Mass with Mozart’s liturgical music, two CDswith the works of Bartłomiej Pękiel, and another onewith the music of Marcin Mielczewski released on theCD Accord label. Still awaiting publication is the seventhpart in the Witold Lutosławski. Opera omnia series:Piosenki dla dzieci (Songs for Children) recordedby the instrumentalists of the National Forumof Music and the Boys’ Choir of the NFM underhis baton.The artist regularly conducts the NFM WrocławPhilharmonic and the NFM Choir, the Wrocław BaroqueOrchestra, and philharmonic ensembles from all overPoland. Recently he has conducted a numberof oratorios, including Haydn’s The Creation, Handel’sMessiah, Mozart’s Mass in C minor and Requiem,J.S. Bach’s Mass in B minor and both his Passions,Fauré’s Requiem, and Britten’s Saint Nicolas cantata.
